About the shop
Taxidermy work done one mount at a time
Maxwell Taxidermy handles deer, fish, birds, small game, and life-size work for hunters and anglers around Tallahassee, North Florida, and South Georgia.
How we work
Every mount comes from a specific hunt or trip, and the goal is to have the finished piece match what you remember. That starts with a conversation before the work begins and continues with careful handling of the cape, hide, or fish from the day it comes in.
Poses, bases, and habitat are chosen with you rather than picked off a shelf. If you are not sure what you want, bring photos of the room or wall and we will figure out what fits.
Repair and restoration on older mounts is part of the shop's work too, whether that is cleaning years of dust off a shoulder mount or repainting a faded fish.

The process
From drop-off to the wall
- 01
Talk it through
Call or email before you drop off. We cover the species, the pose you want, the base, and what the mount needs to fit where it is going.
- 02
Drop off
Bring the animal in cool or frozen. Capes, birds, and fish all keep better when they get to the shop quickly, so call the same day when you can.
- 03
The work
Forms are fitted to your animal's measurements, then the mount is set, groomed, and finished. Fish and skull work get their own process from there.
- 04
Pick up
You get a call when the mount is finished and dry. We go over hanging and long-term care before you take it home.
